There are certain songs that just resonate with you. Whether that song recreates a moment in time or is just one that you really like, these songs are the songs that helped create the person you are and were a constant companion in the journey called life.
Today we continue exploring those songs in my life and what they mean to me. This is Those Certain Songs. Today’s Song: I lived on the Moon

What it means to me:
There are some songs that just take you to far away places with both their words and their music. When I first came across this tune it was via Youtube with the video above. Immediately I was struck by, not only the incredibly well produced video, but by the surreal fantasy driven tone of the song itself. This was a song that made me want to learn more about the place that the band, Kwoon, presented.
It’s strange, every time I listen to this song it evokes a feeling in me that I have not felt since the first time watching the Never Ending Story. Through the incredible music and lyrics we are briefly allowed to visit a place populated by fireflies and three tailed monkeys, a place where snakes fly and dreams are real. For just a brief moment in time, I believe in magic again and can almost feel myself stepping over into a new world few have ever seen.
Throughout history and folk lore magic and music have found themselves intertwined in strange and interesting ways. From the muses of ancient Greece to the trumpet blast that took down the walls of Jericho, sound has evoked everything from love to power causing strange and wonderful things to happen. Kwoon seem to have vanished not long after this album was released and little has been heard from them since. I have to wonder, did the magic of this song take them somewhere else, or did they realize the portal to this new land they opened was just too dangerous to continue to explore? Regardless, we were left with one of the single most magical songs that has ever been recorded.
The album this came from is fabulous in and of itself but it is this single song that really resonates with me and that is why it is one of ‘Those Certain Songs. There is also a wonderful acoustic version I found on Spotify, and it is quite good but the real magic is on the version above in the video.
