I feel heavy

Leaving home every day,

I ask myself in earnest

If I’ll return that same way

I feel heavy

Anytime I’m in the world,

I have to wonder will this be

when my flag will come unfurled.

Ever since we let those kids die

In the spring of ninty-nine,

We opened up a can of fear

Allowing hate into our lives

I feel heavy

Every time I live my life

I think about the danger

And if I’ll ever see my wife…

I feel heavy

    1. Thanks. Someone asked me how I was feeling after the events yesterday and all I could say was that I felt heavy. It took me a while to articulate it but it’s the only thing that sounds right. I feel heavy.
